Although it is now among the largest corporations on the planet, the Walt Disney Company began as a little animation studio in the garage of Walt and Roy Disney's grandpa. This tiny venture was founded on October 16, 1923-- and in 2006, Walt Disney's company had grown to revenues of $34.3 billion.


The first project the Disney bros dealt with was a series entitled Alice's Wonderland, and in 1925, Walt Disney encouraged his bro to relabel the studio to Walt Disney Studios. After numerous smaller sized failures and successes, the first Mickey Mouse cartoons Plane Crazy and Steamboat Willie were released to audiences in 1928. In 1950, the business was revived with the release of Cinderella, and 1952 saw Walt Disney start to plan the Walt Disney Productions amusement park


The Walt Disney World Resort opened in Orlando, Florida in 1971, and Disney started to make its venture into live-action films. There were numerous ups and downs in the years following Walt's death, the business continued to make a name for itself and create ahead to brand-new grounds.
